So puppy is not housebroken and I’m pretty sure she was kept in a bathroom or at the very least taught to go potty in the bathroom.

We had all of the doors closed and she peed in the living room.

Then once the bathroom door was open she went in the bathroom and peed there.

I think she’ll be staying in the bathroom overnight until we can borrow a crate. There’s no other way to do this.

Scottie’s vet visits this week totaled almost $300. That’s on top of the $2k from his surgery and the vet said he needs a chest x-ray in the next few months that will cost another $300. There is a donate button on the homepage of my blog if you would like to help. Donations are greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Scottie had emergency surgery about 6 months ago to remove his right eye. A mass had developed behind it causing him to go blind in that eye. The mass was also pressing on the nerve in his brain that regulates heart rate, so it had to be removed in order to regulate his heart rate.
Now Scottie just has one eye, the mass is gone, and his heart rate is back to normal.
A few nights ago Scottie started coughing and I thought he had a hairball or had swallowed something. The cough got worse last night and he started spitting up foam. Last night was the terrible so when I got up this morning I was prepared to take him to the ER vet for x-rays, surgery, whatever was necessary. I called the large office for his local vet as a last minute thought and the vet answered. He wasn’t in the office but he told us he would meet us and treat Scottie so that we didn’t have to go to the ER vet over an hour away.
Dr. Moore knew what was wrong the minute we walked in the door. Scottie has contagious tracheal bronchitis. No x-rays or invasive tests necessary, just some tracheal palpations and listening to the cough led to a diagnosis.
Scottie is home resting now with antibiotics and cough medication.
Scottie still has over $2k in outstanding vet bills from his emergency surgery several months ago, plus today’s costs. He has been treated and he’s doing very well, but this is a LOT of money for me. I have a donate button on the homepage of my blog and if anyone would like to donate, or reblog, it would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you.

Please tell every dog or cat owner you know. Even if you don’t have a pet, please pass this to those who do.Over the weekend, the doting owner of two young lab mixes purchased Cocoa Mulch from Target to use in their garden. The dogs loved the way it smelled and it was advertised to keep cats away from their garden. Their dog (Calypso) decided the mulch smelled good enough to eat and devoured a large helping. She vomited a few times which was typical when she eats something new but wasn’t acting lethargic in any way. The next day, Mom woke up and took Calypso out for her morning walk. Halfway through the walk, she had a seizure and died instantly.Although the mulch had NO warnings printed on the label, upon further investigation on the company’s web site,This product is HIGHLY toxic to dogs and cats.Cocoa Mulch is manufactured by Hershey’s, and they claim that “It is true that studies have shown that 50% of the dogs that eat Cocoa Mulch can suffer physical harm to a variety of degrees (depending on each individual dog). However, 98% of all dogs won’t eat it.”*Snopes site gives the following information:

Cocoa Mulch, which is sold by Home Depot, Foreman’s Garden Supply and other garden supply stores contains a lethal ingredient called ‘Theobromine’. It is lethal to dogs and cats. It smells like chocolate and it really attracts dogs. They will ingest this stuff and die. Several deaths already occurred in the last 2-3 weeks.Theobromine is in all chocolate, especially dark or baker’s chocolate which is toxic to dogs. Cocoa bean shells contain potentially toxic quantities of theobromine, a xanthine compound similar in effects to caffeine and theophylline. A dog that ingested a lethal quantity of garden mulch made from cacao bean shells developed severe convulsions and died 17 hours later. Analysis of the stomach contents and the ingested cacao bean shells revealed the presence of lethal amounts of theobromine.**PLEASE PASS THIS ON**

Don't be a fool for the devil, Darling: PET NEEDS HELP

racismschool:

Hello all, my friend Mya could really use our help. She was in a car accident yesterday morning. Thankfully, she walked away with just a few scrapes but her dog, Bilbo was not so lucky. His left hind hip was crushed and he will need total hip replacement surgery to fully correct it. He’s already had his X-Rays and taken the pre-surgery screening to make sure he doesn’t have any infections or problems with his internal organs. Thankfully, things look good on that end. He is scheduled for surgery tomorrow morning.

As you can imagine, this is a costly surgery. The cost being approximately $4,200. She has $1,200 in savings but that still leaves $3,000 to pay. I am able to chip in $500 but that isn’t quite enough. I know it’s a lot to ask of strangers but if there is even a small amount that you could chip in to help Bilbo, it would be hugely appreciated.

She still needs to raise $2,500 and if you’d like to help, you can donate to Bilbo’s hip fund through Pay Pal.

Now, a little about Bilbo. Okay, you all know that I am a cat person but I have to admit, this dog is pretty great! He’s a Mastiff. I think his breed is called Bullmastiff. (I’ll have to double check this because I know nothing of dog breeds) He just turned 2 years old and (ironically) he and his human were just coming back from his annual check up when they got into the accident.

If you can’t donate but would still like to help, please signal boost this post. Thank you so much.

We picked Miffy up from the vet after she spent the day there and they said she is a “complex case” in that she has some stuff going on and they don’t know if it’s connected but they’re waiting on pathology to come back to see if it connects the dots. Her lens is dislodged and her eye is swollen, and her lymph nodes are up. It could mean a few things, from a benign eye infection to the scary c word.

Right now she’s home with us overnight after having some pain relief and antibiotic injections. She’s still very lethargic and woozy, we’ve got to put steroid/ antibiotic ointment on her eye a few times a day so I hope that helps her feel better.

Predictably, Miffy’s vet bills are going to be ridiculous. Today’s was just under $500, and she has to go back tomorrow as well, then see a specialist on Monday. If anyone is in the market, I would love to usher you towards my shop fancyladyindustries.com so we can raise money to pay for Miffy’s care.

I was going to put the Girth Guides badges up when I calmed down enough to take photos and write descriptions but my brain is super frazzled right now. So I’m going to hold an ad hoc meeting of the Girth Guide Brigade!

image

If you’re keen on nabbing these limited badges right now they are $15 each, or collect the set of five for $65. Shipping within Australia is $8 and internationally $15 (yes it sucks, Australia Post are price gouging jerks I’m sorry.) There is only 6 of each of the five badges, each hand stitched and finished with a brooch pin on the back. Materials are cotton floss and acrylic felt. Choose from: Pig, Donut, Burger, Girth Guide emblem, and Merbabe.

Send me a message on here letting me know which badge/s you’re after and an email address so I can invoice you via paypal. First preference goes to those who include their email address with their order.

[I was going to use the profits from this first set of Girth Guide badge prototypes to finance professionally embroidered patches but I need to pay for Miffy first! I hate to disappoint those who miss out on these hand made patches, but I probably won’t do another batch of these.]
