I am tired. I do not mean sleepy, I mean… My bones hurt and my skin feels heavy. Changing the position of my body is like swimming through molasses.
I know it will be better in a few days, but I hate this reminder of how my body is without medication.

I really need to do my Cimzia injection this morning, but I’m waiting until someone else (who is capable of driving in case of emergency) gets here, because I’m a little worried that something will go wrong.
Blah. Must inject to have normal life, moderately scared of self-injecting.
Also, I don’t have a sharps container :/
Oh oh oh! Tomorrow is my last research appointment. I have to take a Cimzia package in to the doctor with me. They will teach me how to self inject, and then I should be able to do my own injections and not go in to the office every two weeks.
It’s been 14 days since my last Cimzia injections which is my typical dosing cycle, but this time I don’t get my shots until Thursday.
I just had a sharp pain in my right elbow that’s slowly growing and getting warmer and I know it’s because it’s time for meds.
Fuck, this hurts.

10 more weeks of drug study. That’s five more appointments, and 5 more sets of injections before (hopefully) I can start self-injecting at home.
Doctor informed my mother that there is no cure for Crohn’s and the remission rate after 6 months is lower than 30%, so maybe she actually believes I’m sick now.
Good news: J won’t be working Saturdays for the rest of the fall/winter and at some point no Fridays either. Woo long weekends?

I went in for Cimzia injections today. Most people don’t have to go in the office for injections, but I’m participating in an aftermarket drug study. Every two weeks I make the one hour trek south to Atlanta where I go to the Atlanta Gastroenterology Associates Infusion/Research Lab. I submit diary cards that explain (in great detail) my symptoms daily since my last visit. They take a urine sample, vitals, numerous vials of blood, then I receive two 200mg injections of Cimzia. Dr. Wolf comes in and goes over my symptoms since the last visit, previous blood work and tests, etc. He then decides if modifications need to be made to my dosage, if more tests should be run, or if anything else needs to change. I have to wait 30 minutes after the injections, then the nurse (Lamia, or Margaret- who are amazing and I can contact via email pretty much any time) takes my vitals again and checks the injection sites to make sure I’m not having a reaction.

I really don’t mind it too much. The meds keep me from being sick, and the nurses are amazing. I haven’t experienced any weird side effects. I don’t even mind the 5 vials of blood they take every time. However, the twice a month pregnancy tests always make me anxious.
